Hillwood is one of Tasmania’s best sport climbing areas and has recently reopened. The Georgetown Council, in collaboration with the Landowner and the Climbers Club of Tasmania have reinvigorated the site and it has become very popular.

On this rock climbing tour, we start with an introductory abseil off a shorter cliff to get the technique fine-tuned.   We then move on to a spectacular 40metre drop with a free hanging section that is sure to get the heart racing.  Once we have mastered this skill we move on to some Top Rope climbing at the nearby Chessboard Buttress.  Participants can be sure to come away with a great sense of satisfaction after stepping out of your comfort zone in a controlled environment. The climbing is very unique with a huge range of holds formed as part of the Basalt Rock. Grade options for all levels of climber.
